As the country’s only institution dedicated to open and distance learning, Bangladesh Open University was established in 1992 with a clear vision: to support national education policies by providing flexible, inclusive, and affordable learning opportunities. It was designed particularly to serve those who, due to various socio-economic challenges, are unable to access conventional educational institutions.
BOU offers educational opportunities to students from pre-university levels through open schooling, alongside a comprehensive range of higher education programs including diplomas, bachelor’s, master’s, MPhil, and PhD degrees—all delivered through an open and distance learning (ODL) framework without age restrictions.
