Md. Khairul Islam is a lecturer in Fisheries at the School of Agriculture and Rural Development (SARD), Bangladesh Open University (BOU). He completed his BSc in Fisheries (Hons.) in 2016 and his MS in Aquaculture in 2018 from Bangladesh Agricultural University. His research interests span aquaculture techniques, ecosystem approaches to fisheries management (EAFM), biodiversity and conservation, fish pharmacology, sustainable aquaculture practices, seafood technology, and the blue economy.
Mr. Islam has worked in various roles, including Project Management Officer for JICA Bangladesh, Research Assistant at WorldFish Bangladesh & South-Asia Office, and Data Enumerator for IMAQulate. His published works include research on aquaponics systems for mitigating water pollution and safe food production, cauliflower production in aquaponic systems, and calcium supplementation in tomato production using egg shells.
He has received several awards, such as board scholarships in his HSC (2010) and SSC (2008) examinations, a General Grade Scholarship in Primary Examination (2004), a Gold Medal for being the Best Scout (2010), and an Honor Medal for securing first position in the National Art Competition by Bangladesh Scouts (2007). Md. Khairul Islam is a member of Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB).
