Library and Documentation Division is one of the most important divisions of Bangladesh Open University. This division is well defined, decorated and in a very lucrative space. The Central Library began its operation on September 14, 1994, in a separate three-storied building with a total of approximately 1568 square meters on the main campus. The library has already passed a glorious 25 years service benefiting a large number of distance learners across the country. In the city office of BOU, a small library is also working. Students of different programs are taking advantage of using the library. A good collection of books are there for readers. The mission of the BOU library is to provide access to the latest reading materials to its users at the right time. Muktijudho Corner was opened on 12 December 1999 at the BOU library. The Corner carries historical documents, liberation war based books, Bangabandhu’s photographs, portraits and maps etc. Presently new decoration plan for Muktijudho Corner is taken and it is under a process now.
The library remains open from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm during the working days
Faculty/Officer/Staff who have membership are eligible to use the library facilities.
PBOU personnel who are serving outside the main campus are eligible for membership.
Membership card is not transferable. Anyone losing or damaging his/her membership card can get a new one by applying to the librarian.
Faculty/Officer can borrow 10 books and staff can borrow 4 books at a time. Books are issued for one month with provision for renewal.
Rare/Reference books/journals/dailies are not issued.
Silence is required in the library. Writing /marking in books is forbidden. Any sort of mutilation will cause replacement.
