Dr. Md. Anowarul Haque currently serving as Associate Professor (Agriculture) at the School of Agriculture and Rural Development, Bangladesh Open University (BOU), Gazipur. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (1995) and Master of Science in Agronomy (2001) at Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, with his master's research focused on growth hormones and fertilizer management in field crops. Dr. Haque earned PhD in Plant Breeding and Genetics in 2011 from Ibaraki University, TUAT, Japan, specializing in wheat breeding, molecular genetics, and near-isogenic line development, supported by the Monbukagakusho Scholarship from the Japanese government.
Dr. Haque joined Bangladesh Open University as a Lecturer (Agriculture) in 2012, was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2015, and to Associate Professor in 2021. His role involves classroom instruction (online and offline), curriculum development, educational content writing and research supervision. Between 2022 and 2023, he took study leave to serve as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Gazipur Agricultural University, working on durable blast-resistant wheat varieties through gene pyramiding, supported by a UGC Postdoctoral Fellowship (2020).
He has authored or co-authored of 23 peer-reviewed publications on wheat genetics and breeding, crop physiology, soil and plant nutrients, and pest management. His studies have appeared in both national and international journals.
Dr. Haque is also a life member of the Krishibid Institute, Dhaka (KBI), reflecting his ongoing engagement with Bangladesh's agricultural community.
