Kazi Sharmin Pamela started her teaching career as a lecturer in marketing at the Open School of Bangladesh Open University (BOU-OS) in 2014. She earned BBA and MBA degree in marketing with a dissertation from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. During her academic life, she was involved in various research projects that inspired her to get into the research field. Later, to enrich her theoretical knowledge and become familiar with diverse cultures, she received another master’s degree in international business from the University of Wollongong, Australia. Before starting her academic career, she gained three years of experience in research firms and the corporate sector.
As a part of her responsibilities at Bangladesh Open University, Pamela is intensely involved in constructing self-learning materials, particularly in print and audio-video formats. By now, she has prepared five printed self-learning modules, which are used as study materials at higher secondary, undergraduate, and graduate levels. Moreover, she has edited two self-learning modules at the graduate level. With time, she has also anchored 24 course-based audio and video programs, which are available on BOUtube. She is also teaching marketing management and e-marketing courses at the graduate level. In addition, Pamela is executing various academic and administrative responsibilities as an active member and chairman of different committees.
Furthermore, Pamela published seven research articles in academic journals and participated in conferences on open and distance learning (ODL) and the marketing field. She is actively involved in several research projects with different national and international organizations and educational institutions, namely the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA), The Open University, UK, and the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), India, and the Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB). She participated in various trainings and workshops to broaden her capabilities and skills. Besides, she moderated and facilitated the workshops among the diverse target groups. Presently, she is working on research areas in women entrepreneurship, e-entrepreneurship, digital marketing, and mobile learning.
